Pilot at the south end of Blisworth Tunnel. Date is pre 1908

This image, recently found, shows the same location as in the photo below but was taken a few seconds earlier. The steerer on the tug is bending down, possibly giving the order to go...

...and in this picture, in a cloud of smoke, the tug has moved forward a few yards, setting off to take up the tow.
